Dureresque is my blog for current and past medieval and Renaissance period art projects. My husband and I are members of the Society for Creative Anachronism, which is sort of like a private Renaissance Faire. I taught myself egg tempera techniques, then gilding, and painted some Byzantine icons on wood panels. More recently I've taken up oils, and have made some silverpoint pens and experimented with them. I've taught classes on egg tempera, oil painting, silverpoint drawing, icons, and Renaissance painting techniques. I've written a number of articles about painting in the Middle Ages, silverpoint drawing, and iconography.
